Come See Us at Fort Lupton!

April 4, 2025

We've been invited to participate in the South Platte Valley Historical Society's Heritage Fair Saturday May 3 10-4pm. Kevin's excited to have a reason to break out the period tent, and I am looking forward to being able to cook (hopefully over a fire, weather permitting). I soooo miss my tire rim that Jeff Trotman gave me on the last Trek. It made cooking anywhere so easy! Kevin will be doing an enlistment complete with signing an original battalion muster roll and a swearing in ceremony. He LOVES doing those.

I have to decide what I'll make - bread or a pie. If I made a pie - I'd be thinking of Val Jones the entire time wishing he were there to cook it perfectly over the fire. Val was a master at baking pies in dutch ovens. In Michigan at the River of Time reenactment we participated in, we'd line up 6 or 7 dutch ovens in a row with the lids propped to the side and people would just be amazed at how wonderful they looked. All due to Val Jones! (And the wonderful women and kids who peeled and cut all those apples!) I do have a photo of that somewhere if I posted it your mouths would be watering.

We'll be playing games too, so if you know anyone in the Ft. Lupton area - we'd love to meet them. Admission is $5/person CASH children under 12 free. My HTML skills (thanks to MS Co-Pilot) have improved to the point I learned how to make web links blue! Here is the website for more information: Click here for Heritage Fair Flyer
