Packing our Wagon

April 5, 2025

Kevin is being reminded of the joys of RV ownership. As you'll hear on our podcast there has been a lot to do to get it ready. We didn't buy a new trailer and there were some little things that needed doing. I wish I could send you a video of the fabulous job he did backing it into the driveway last night. It was impressive. I think my Dad would have been proud. We're thinking owning a trailer is a bit like making maple syrup - We started out thinking we needed a spile and a milk jug and before you know it one by one other things were helpful to get the job done. For example, getting the mirror extenders for the truck really helped! Kevin is trying to decide if we need a generator - and where to put it.

We are scouring our pantry for lightweight & easy to prep food items we can take. Laura Anderson, with the million other things she is doing, has graciously offered to make us some freeze-dried meals and I'm bringing our little mini-crockpot so I'm excited to try those. I was able to taste a tiny bit of one of her soups while we were in Washington, DC, while on the archives trip and it was very yummy. This will be a new experience for me because I've never prepared that type of food before. I think I've had 2-3 cans of dehydrated apples in my food storage for years. This may be the time to break into those babies.

Other than that, we're just gathering tools, books, computer equipment, and accepting invitations to speak as they come in.
